London's grand cafe opens its first-ever hotel on West 44th

The Wolseley has spent two decades as London's grand cafe on Piccadilly, all black lacquer and breakfast theater. Now Minor Hotels is turning the brand into a hotel for the first time anywhere, inside the 1905 McKim, Mead & White building that once housed the Lambs Club and, more recently, The Chatwal.

Due in early 2027, it brings 76 rooms, a New York edition of The Wolseley marking the brand's US debut, a cellar speakeasy and a wellness center. Theater District hotels usually go big. This one is built around a single dining room instead.

Good to know

• The building's previous tenant was The Chatwal; the landmark 1905 Lambs Club interior is the reason to watch this one.
