The Manner
★ 4.6 · 225 reviews New York Opened September 2024
No TVs, no art, just books, all SoHo
Skip the lobby spectacle. The 97 rooms at The Manner have no televisions and nothing on the walls, just shelves of books, so it feels more like a friend's apartment in SoHo than a hotel built for show.
It's Standard International's grown-up new sibling to The Standard, the quieter version for a downtown crowd that's outgrown performing for the room. A rooftop bar opened above it within the first year.
Good to know
- There are no TVs in the rooms, by design; expect books instead.
- The rooftop opened after the hotel itself and is worth timing a stay around in warm months.

Great hotel. Will definitely return. Value for the rooms is incredible. Newly designed 60 Thompson, the staff are very hospitable and every room is beautiful. Food was great as well. We’ll be back

I’ve stayed at The Manner multiple times now and every single stay has been a great experience. The hotel somehow manages to feel both incredibly polished and genuinely warm at the same time, which is rare in NYC. Looking forward to being back again next week. A special shoutout to Michi in The Apartment, who is always so welcoming, fun to talk to, and consistently gives amazing recommendations around the city. The Apartment itself is one of my favorite hotel spaces anywhere. It feels like you’re being hosted by your very stylish and hospitable friend in New York. One small piece of friendly feedback: I honestly thought it was cooler before the new uniforms. Part of what made the atmosphere feel so personal and unique was that the staff could express their own style and personality through what they wore. Everyone there is already so stylish and creative that they really didn’t need uniforms in my opinion. Not a major thing at all, but I do think the individuality added to the vibe of the place a bit!

We booked a one-night stay at The Manner SoHo as a quick Valentine’s getaway from Boston to New York City to see a show, and it exceeded our expectations. The hotel was beautiful, spotless, and perfectly located in SoHo — quiet yet within easy walking distance of so many great restaurants and foodie spots. The design and ambiance are truly breathtaking, but what stood out most was the service. All of the staff were great, but Alejandro (Alex) welcomed us the moment we stepped onto the property, recognized us each time we came and went, and was especially warm, helpful, and friendly throughout our stay. That level of attentiveness made the experience feel personal and memorable. Overall, it was the perfect quick getaway — stylish, comfortable, and exceptionally well-run. We’d absolutely stay again

My wife and I enjoyed every second of our stay here. We were greeted kindly from the beginning with Matthew taking excellent care of us with generous upgrades/accommodations, and the rest of the staff were just as helpful n friendly. The attention to detail and the breakfast at The Apartment (2nd story lounge) were top tier, and the location couldn’t have been better. Appreciate the quality and effort your staff put in to giving us a great experience!
