The Livingston

Hyatt finally lands in Brooklyn, 22 stories up
Brooklyn's hotel scene has always belonged to independents like the Ace and the Wythe. The Livingston breaks that streak: the first Hyatt ever built in the borough, a 22-story tower at 291 Livingston Street, a short walk from Barclays Center and BAM.
It's a small build for the neighborhood, 104 rooms, but fifteen have balconies and the 820-square-foot rooftop terrace looks straight across the downtown skyline. The Grove Lantern runs food on the ground floor, with a lobby cafe covering daytime.
Good to know
- Fifteen rooms have private balconies; ask specifically, they don't cost much more.
- The rooftop terrace on the 22nd floor is the best free view of downtown Brooklyn you can get with a room key.

4.5/5 Nice, new, clean hotel. Rooms are on the smaller side, as expected for NYC, though it was slightly larger than I expected from other reviews. I had a corner room which may have provided more space - it had a small entry area to keep shoes and luggage out of the way. The bed was comfy with adequate chargers bedside. The room had a reading chair in the corner plus a desk with a chair. There is a small wardrobe, though it doesn’t accommodate anything long. There are also a few hooks by the door (I would’ve preferred some of those hooks in the bathroom). The bathroom is small but functional. While this hotel is brand new, some of the finishing touches seemed sloppy/rushed. The shower itself is nice, though the door didn’t seal properly so the floor mat ended up wet. The toilet has a partition but not a door to fully separate it. There’s not anywhere to hang your towel in the bathroom which I found odd. Overall this is a nice hotel and convenient to downtown Brooklyn. The area seems to be going through lots of new development. The staff was pleasant and helpful, even accommodating an early check in for us which was great after an early morning flight. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything is good except that room is a bit small but it is near manhattan. Services are great! Would go back again! You can walk easily to the Brooklyn bridge from the hotel too

Rooms are small as expected, but the bed is comfortable and it had nice touches (like automatic floor lights in the bathroom at night). Hotel also has great amenities downstairs (water, soda, toiletries, etc.) and the restaurant was good. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone at this hotel! The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is wicked, and the location couldn’t be better. My partner and I had an issue with our room when we first arrived, but the team dealt with it immediately. Not only did they upgrade us to a much better room, but they also went above and beyond by giving us complimentary breakfast for the rest of our stay. That level of customer service really made a difference. The location is fantastic too, you’re close to everything, making it the perfect base for exploring the city. If you’re thinking about staying here, I would absolutely recommend booking this hotel. A special thank you to Kayla and Michael, you both were amazing and made our stay even more enjoyable!

What a wonderful hotel! They got everything right from the very beginning — from the easy arrival (garages and public transit just around the corner) to the warm welcome from the friendly team. The welcome drinks and chocolates at the checkin desk were so thoughtful! I loved the room design: modern, industrial, and artsy. We had a Deluxe King and my favorite details were the large windows, sleek finishes, and Nespresso machine. All of the conveniences we needed were readily available, from extra toiletries to umbrellas. The hotel has a partnership with a nearby gym, which was another great perk!
