An Upper East Side classic, rebuilt from the studs up

JFK and Bette Davis kept rooms here when The Surrey was a residential hotel on East 76th Street. It shut during the pandemic, sold, and came back October 25, 2024 after a multi-year gut renovation, now as Corinthia's first US property.

The count stays small: 70 rooms, 30 suites, 14 private residences upstairs. Miami's Casa Tua runs the restaurant, its first New York outpost. It feels more like a fantasy apartment building than a grand hotel.

Good to know

Casa Tua, the Miami members'-club favorite, runs the restaurant here and is open to hotel guests.
The suite count is unusually high for the size; the one-bedrooms are the sweet spot.

Absolutely incredible experience and the definition of Luxury in NYC. This UES staple lived up to every and all expectations. The accommodations were stunning and the decor and attention to detail were extremely elevated. We were celebrating a birthday - and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel very special. I want to give a special acknowledgement to the Sisley Spa and the Spa Director, Christian. He took such incredible care of us and made us feel like family during our short stay. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, when looking through the plethora of options in NYC - The Surrey will and does stand out for a reason. We can not wait to come back!!

Highest marks for this hotel. Newly renovated and VERY quiet rooms with beautiful bathrooms. The staff is extremely polite, friendly and competent.

All the staff are excellent and efficient. Our suite are tastefully decorated with easy to understand technology . Quieter and convenient location to museums and smaller shops.

Amazing stay! Cannot recommend it more highly. I wish I didn't like it as the price is a little eye-watering but now I don't want to stay anywhere else in NYC. The staff were wonderful, all quickly knew who we were from the moment we walked in and remembered things we had discussed. The concierge gave excellent recommendations, totally hit the nail on the head of what I wanted. The courtesy car is also an excellent service. The room was also SO quiet which was impressive given the location.

I had a facial done by Esteffany at the spa at the Surrey today and it was amazing. I felt so relaxed through the facial and my skin looked so bright and fabulous after the treatment! Loved the staff and the ambience of the spa. I highly recommend their service!
