Kimpton Era Midtown New York

★ 4.1 · 227 reviews New York Opened March 2026

A 33-story new build with a rooftop izakaya over Rockefeller Center

A brand-new 33-story tower on West 48th Street, the biggest build the Rockefeller Center corridor has seen in years. At 529 rooms it's a scale Kimpton rarely attempts, and a handful come with private terraces staring straight at the landmarks.

The food and drink is the real draw. Rocco DiSpirito, once of Union Pacific fame, runs Bar Rocco on the ground floor, and the rooftop holds Jade Rabbit, an izakaya with 360-degree views over Rockefeller Plaza and Radio City. In-room Peloton bikes round out the lifestyle checklist. Midtown has no shortage of big hotels. New ones with an actual point of view are rarer.

Good to know

  • Jade Rabbit, the rooftop izakaya, has direct views of Rockefeller Center and Radio City; book ahead.
  • A handful of rooms come with private terraces, rare in this part of Midtown.

I stayed here for six nights on a business trip, and this is hands down one of the better hotels I've stayed at in NYC. I initially chose it simply because of its close proximity to my meetings, but I had such a fantastic experience that I will definitely be staying here again whenever I'm back in town. The check-in process was smooth, and they hand out metal water bottles to guests upon arrival, which you can refill at the water stations located on every floor, which is a really nice touch. The team was also thoughtful enough to offer me a dental kit at check-in. They offer some excellent perks for guests throughout the day. There is complimentary coffee available in the reception area every morning from 6:30am to 10:00am, as well as a daily evening happy hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm serving free beer, red wine, and white wine. The room itself was decently sized for New York City standards. Sleek, modern, and impeccably clean. Overall, it’s a modern and stylish hotel with a prime, central location that makes it convenient to get to everything, including the nearby subway stations. Personally, I feel this Kimpton Era property is even better than the other Kimpton location in NYC. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it!

So mixed reviews on this place. It’s a beautiful new hotel. It is in the heart of Midtown so it’s busy but close to a lot of things for tourists. The rooms are very tiny so pro tip get an accessible room for more space if possible. Some of the restaurants and bars in the hotel close early there’s a pretty cool rooftop bar you can go to though next-door. Malik at the front desk was awesome. He switched our rooms for us and made this day so much better!

New and beautiful hotel. I checked in late and was chatting with the front desk staff about how my uber had dropped me off two blocks away; they were all super sympathetic and made me laugh. They asked if I wanted a room on a high floor and I said that I thought I had paid more for an Empire State Building view. The gentleman said I hadn’t, but then the other gentleman said “well, let’s give her one.” They gave me a corner room with spectacular views! They also gave me free drink cards and a water bottle. Just excellent energy all around. The room was modern and spotless but honestly, the staff is really amazing and I would recommend staying here just because of them. Many thanks to John, Kojo, Stephan and Justin.

We stayed at Kimpton Era Midtown for a few nights and had a fantastic experience! Nice, clean rooms with most amenities you would need, but the rooms are definitely on the small side. That being said, they make great use of the little space that is available so the rooms are still decent. Free water refills, coffee in the morning, and great breakfast options at the restaurant downstairs. We also got engaged during our time here, and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate the occasion by sharing a heartfelt message and sending a bottle of wine to our room. Thank you Kimpton Era Midtown and staff for the unforgettable experience!

Had a fantastic one night stay in NYC. We were coming to see a Broadway show, and the location was perfect. As a new hotel, the rooms and facilities were all bright and clean. It's absolutely true that the rooms are very small. Thanks to other reviews, we knew what to expect and knew it would work for us. It's ideal for shorter stays, people traveling alone, or couples who are very familiar with each other. The bed was super comfortable and great for relaxing and watching TV. Drinks at The Parlor, chips and guac and tacos at the Bar Amasa Taqueria, and breakfast at Bar Rocco were all delicious - the onsite dining options are a highlight. The staff throughout the hotel were all great. There were no elevator wait issues during our stay, although the hotel didn't seem particularly busy so your mileage may vary.
