French and Spanish coastal cooking on Killingsworth

Baked oysters, handmade pasta and locally farmed meat share a kitchen that leans Pacific Northwest even while it's cooking coastal France and Spain. Order several small plates across the table before anyone commits to a main.

Marée took over the old Dame space on NE Killingsworth and 30th, and it runs like a neighborhood spot rather than a special-occasion room. Dinner only, Wednesday through Saturday.

Came to Marée for the first time last night. Had an outstanding experience. The space is cozy and inviting. Got seated right away on a Thursday with no reservation needed (I assume reservations will be needed soon as they get popular). Started with a cocktail and a couple apps, the leeks and albacore crudo. Both were fantastic. Next round was the white beans and the rockfish with a Sancerre. The herb sauce with the rockfish was awesome. Capped the dinner with the basque cheesecake (friendly neighborhood competition with Urdaneta??) and glass of sherry. Spent a little over $100/person but you could save a lot if you drank less :) Service was excellent too. Seems like the staff were having fun and were dialed in. Food came out super fast and we never felt rushed during what we turned into our own little 5 course meal. Just an all around good time, and this place seems like it’ll be a centerpiece of the neighborhood for a while.

Loved the space and the cocktails were delicious! Marée has converted me when it comes to anchovies (truly, I was so pleasantly surprised) and I will definitely be coming back! Everyone was so friendly, too.

Marée is a must visit restaurant in the portland food scene! The food, service, and vibe are all incredible! The intimate space is great for a special occasion and is still very welcoming! The food is unique and nothing I’ve had before! The staff treat you like and old friend and make delicious cocktails! 10/10 recommend, we’ll be back!

Marees has done more than meet expectations. The food is phenomenal; no notes at all. The entire chef team knows exactly what they are doing. Our experience was phenomenal and then met with amazing hospitality… chefs kiss. But that’s to be expected

My partner and I went to celebrate her birthday and we were blown away. The service, the ambiance and the food were all spectacular. We wandered in aimlessly during the soft opening, with no expectations, and found ourselves gleefully giggling at the food almost the whole time. Mussels on toast, French Chimichurri on Tuna Crudo, and oh my god the bowl of tomatoes with vinaigrette… I could have eaten three bowls. Everything at this European seafood tapas restaurant was light and delicious, with thoughtfully sourced ingredients. We finished 5 plates and both desserts and had to refrain from licking the plates. Reasonably priced, unreasonably delicious and creative. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, the kind of staff who are clearly well-seasoned and enjoy their jobs while actually caring about the guests’ experience. We have literally no notes. The fact this was just the soft opening really bodes well for the future of Maree once they hit their full stride. What a cute and wonderful addition to the NE Killingsworth/Alberta food scene.
