Two Nine-Ten alumni making New York pizza in East Village

Caravan Pizza took a permanent room at 1450 Market Street in East Village in May 2025, less than a year after Ethan Ritenour and Jarrett Wright were selling slices at metal shows. They met in culinary school and both worked under Jason Knibb at Nine-Ten in La Jolla.

The pies are New York-style and the fine-dining training shows in the details rather than the shape. They also vend at the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park in summer, which is a strange sentence to write about a pizza that good.
