Travis Swikard's French room in La Jolla, open since February 2026
Fleurette opened in February 2026 on Executive Drive, the second restaurant from Travis Swikard after Callie in East Village. The cooking is French but lighter than the classic template: braised rabbit with maitake and black truffle, chicken liver parfait with persimmon and fennel aigre-doux on toast.
Everyone orders the steak frites anyway, and it holds up. Swikard ferments carrots for days and keeps spot prawns alive in Scripps seawater until the ticket comes in, so trust the vegetables here more than usual.

A great showcase some classic southern French dishes reimagined with great California ingredients. The ham and cheese gougeres is an excellent opening to the meal you are about to have. Packed with flavor in a little bite. It’s reminiscent of a similar canapé served at Addison. The oeufs and eggs is a must get as well. Perfectly scrambled eggs that’s is punctuated with black truffle throughout. Wished there was more uni to round out the overall dish but the rich truffle and egg alone is still divine. We would have ordered the duck but it was sold out when we arrived. We chose the Dover sole which was cooked well but lacks a bit of seasoning. The beet ribbon salad is a great intermission to bring some freshness and it was delicious even if you are not a big fan of beets. The beef tartare was great with the use of anchovies. The liver paste is surprisingly light and not overly irony. The biggest let down would actually be the dessert. We ordered the strawberry and yuzu which unfortunately lacked some balance. The yuzu was just a bit overwhelming that it really overshadowed the strawberry. The drinks program is definitely worth mentioning. The drinks list has some really interesting cocktail options like the Provence or the Coronado. Outside of the set drink menu the bar was also made a great custom mocktail based on our taste that was amazing. They do have a wine by the bottle list but it’s not a very extensive list in terms of styles of wines. Compared to Callie this is a more refined experience and everything from the food, service and ambiance reflects that. It’s always great to see a new restaurant open up in San Diego offering something new and we hope they continue to improve.

This restaurant is everything and then some! Our party had a private room with the chefs tasting menu and everything was more than amazing. Each dish was thought out with such detail and care and all of the food is grown or sourced from local farms. Hold onto your socks, you’re in for the meal of a lifetime!

We had a fabulous evening at Fleuette. We ate family style sharing starters and main courses amongst 4 people. Everything we ordered was full on complex flavors that complimented each other very well. The sauces on the plates were decadent. Even the flavors in the cocktails with Foam were complimentary. Bread Beef tartare Leek egg and caviar Seared tuna Waygu pasta Lamb rack Honey and Lavender dessert

The second gift to San Diego by local son Chef Travis Swikard, Fleurette is a place that allows the chef, mixologist extraordinaire James Roe, and sommelier Tracy Latimer to flex their considerable talent. The dining experience is impeccable, the quality of ingredients unquestionable, and the level of execution rivaled by only the finest houses in the city. You can certainly pay more for a dining experience in this City; however you will not receive better value for an evening of fine dining than you'll receive here. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Exceptional fine dining experience. Several very very good dishes and a few that were simply beyond belief in appearance, taste and experience. This is a wonderful addition to the San Diego dining scene. I'd consider the beets, ouef & eggs and roast chicken among the most brilliant dishes I've had all year. Ouef & eggs is particular incredible - a name-making dish for Chef Swikard. I wouldn't be the slightest surprised if this becomes his Oysters & Pearls.
