Pepino

★ 4.9 · 201 reviews San Diego Opened 2 November 2025

A Peruvian pop-up that finally got a room, on Fay Avenue

Pepino opened at 7556 Fay Avenue in La Jolla on 2 November 2025 after years as a pop-up, including a brunch takeover at Le Coq the September before that functioned as a public dress rehearsal.

Peruvian cooking is thin on the ground in San Diego, which makes this one worth the drive. Ceviche is the obvious order; the causa is the better one.

Pepino is awesome!! The breakfast burrito is huge and delish (as you can tell) And they are doing Matcha, pop-ups Fridays, and Saturdays this month and next!! The owners are awesome and it’s in the perfect spot in La Jolla for breakfast/lunch

Sebastian and the entire staff at Pepino are spectacular. The food is delicious, coffee is perfect, and the ambiance has such a clean and welcoming aesthetic. Pretty sure they have old church pews for their bench seating. I wish more places like this existed. Simple, clean, with an obvious attention to detail. Service was noticeably attentive and the food speaks for itself. Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, truly. Free coffee refills is unheard of at a small operation like this and it’s the little things like having Demi syrup readily available that I personally appreciate. I hope anyone that lives or visits San Diego will go out of their way to experience Pepino. Hats off to chef and his crew!

Chef Seb expertly blends classics with Peruvian favors. I first tried his food at his breakfast pop-ups, so when I learned he was opening a restaurant I knew I had to try it. And it did not disappoint. Pep’s Breakfast Sandwich was delicious. The croissant bun was flakey and light, and the spicy mayo added just a little kick balanced with avocado. I know I will return, many times in the future.

My fiancé found Pepino’s while helping me plan my bachelor party, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the weekend. Sebastian was fantastic to work with—he responded quickly to our emails, helped coordinate a bulk order of 15 breakfast burritos, and made sure everything was ready exactly when promised. As great as the service was, the food somehow exceeded it. The Lomo Saltado breakfast burrito was hands-down the best burrito I’ve ever had, and everyone in my group was raving about it. If you’re anywhere near La Jolla, do yourself a favor and stop by Pepino’s. Incredible food, outstanding service, awesome people and an all-around great experience.

Just had a Lomo Saltado breakfast burrito and it was absolutely awesome 🌯🔥 Fresh, flavorful, and packed perfectly. Portion size is huge and the beef was outstanding! Definitely one of the best breakfasts burritos I’ve had in a while!
