Kakurenbo

Balcony sushi from the Tsukushinbo team
Kakurenbo opened in April 2026 on S Main St, from the people behind Tsukushinbo and Onibaba. Sushi, soba and snacks, served from counter seating up on a balcony.
Start with the garlicky karaage and the crab butter miso soup. It's the CID answer for when Maneki is booked out.

We had omakase sashimi plus a couple of small dishes. Every piece in the omakase was delicious- ingredients were fresh and well prepared. They probably incorporated precious feedback because our pacing was perfect. The appetizers were very creative and unlike anything we had before so we were impressed. Overall a great addition to the culinary scene in Seattle.

I’ve dined at the sushi bar solo twice. This is a fantastic spot for anything from a solo date to a larger party- I saw a table in the back for semi private dining… Chef Sho takes such care in his fish and rice preparation. My favorites are often itoyori or kamasu- but honestly everything is so special here. My only regret is that I don’t have more people to share kitchen food with! The dai-renkon salad is fantastic. The wasabi yama q is unique and refreshing. Next time I’ll try the skate wing karaage if they still have it as a special. I was able to book a reservation through open table. My husband and I also stopped in on a Saturday for a drink at their cocktail bar. You literally feel transported to Japan. The space is inviting and cozy, the cocktails are delish. I can’t wait to go back 🥲

Phenomenal experience from start to finish! My wife and I ate here last week for her birthday, and we couldn’t be more pleased. We ordered a couple of starters and also did the Omakase menu, and I have no criticism. The food was amazing, the Service was top-notch, in the atmosphere sitting up at the chefs counter reminded me of a sushi restaurant we went to in Kyoto. I highly recommend!

The best sushi we’ve had in Seattle - we enjoyed it more than Shiro’s, Kashiba, Ltd Sushi, and SanKai (and these are all places we love!). I ordered the a la carte options but my husband ordered the omakase, and we both had a grand time. The sushi is incredibly fresh and flavorful, and it was inspiring to see the chef work. Chef Sho is hospitable, fast yet skillful. This spot is from the same team as Onibaba and Tsukushinbo, so the quality is high here. The staff is friendly and attentive. Plus, the decor is aesthetically pleasing and well thought-out.

Tsukushinbo has been upgraded and rejuvenated as Kakurembo. Sho remains and runs the show. Wonderful to Seattle’s sushi scene. We expect to be regulars. Best to reserve by phone
