Paris humanist hotel brand heads to Union Market

Philippe Starck is designing the interiors, with a rooftop planned for Capitol views, an indoor cinema, live music and an organic restaurant. It's the first American outpost for MOB Hotel, the humanist hotel brand Cyril Aouizerate built after leaving Mama Shelter in 2014.

The corner site here was bought in 2017, and a planned 2020 opening never happened. Construction is finally underway, with 144 rooms now pointed at a mid-2027 opening.

Good to know

  • Not open yet - the facade is up and the current target is mid-2027, but this project has slipped before; check before planning around it.
