Riviera dining rooms, four blocks from the White House
Barbouzard opened on K Street a few blocks from the White House in July 2025, doing the French Riviera with a straight face. Crab and caviar tartelettes under low lighting, a violinist working the room.
Steak frites and heirloom tomato gazpacho hold up the rest of the menu. Later in the evening the DJ booth takes over and Saint-Tropez turns into 18th Street.

Felt like a little French getaway in DC! Elegant space that felt bright yet cozy. Our group of 10 had a table tucked into an alcove that felt more intimate. Every item that came out was so thoughtfully prepared for visual presentation and mix of flavors and textures. The Burratta starter was one of my favorites. The watermelon salad was light and refreshing. Generous portions. The creative Cavimisu dessert was extra! It comes in a custom caviar tin with chocolate caviar pearls on a tiramisu with rich espresso. So novel and creative. Our server David was wonderful took great care of us. Go to the bathroom just to see the secret agent wall mural. I saw a group of twenty-something’s arrive and their first order of business was pretty much to head straight over to have a whole photoshoot in front of the Shhh lady.

The escargots were easily some of the finest I've had, plump, beautifully seasoned, and drenched in garlicky butter. The foie gras was silky and well-balanced, not too salty. The Petite Bouillabaisse offered a wonderfully rich broth, and the Loup de Mer was cooked with precision; though the fish itself lacked sweetness and juiciness. Desserts were delightful. Add a lively DJ, a buzzing vibe, and amazing service (our glasses never ran dry). We would love to come back.

Went to celebrate a birthday because of the raving reviews, but was disappointed. The food could have been better tasting. The lobster pasta tasted like Ramen I could have cooked at home and added lobster. It was in a sweet sauce. The escargot was good but heavy on a lemon flavor. The prawns tasted better once dipped in the sauce on the plate. Our service was not up to par. It was an okay experience but would not visit again.

I had heard they have a fun scene with good food so I ventured. The manager and bartenders were very friendly the place itself is aesthetically pleasing The food was very good I had the espresso martini, pate, and the calamari. The espresso martini was perfect. I tried a nice rose there. The pate was in bite sized servings which is a little shishi for me but it was very tasty and a nice mix of flavors with the sweet and salty. He did honor to the calamari I felt like I was eating in a restaurant along costa brava it was a really beautiful flavoring of the herbs and grilled to perfection w a little char. Bravo 👏🏻 That night was dead but there was a game going on that night so I planned poorly… they supposedly have a dj and a lively scene hopefully I will get to experience that in my next visit

Delicious food and outstanding service at this upscale french restaurant! Enjoyed a leisurely lunch here on a Tuesday. The escargot and steak tartare were excellent and not to be missed! The menu has something for everyone and I would recommend starting with a number of appetizers and then several entrees to get a taste of everything. Come hungry!! 😊
