Samuelsson's dining room under the Sly rooftop
Two months after opening the Sly rooftop, Marcus Samuelsson put a full restaurant underneath it at the Morrow in NoMa.
A 36-day dry-aged New York strip with black garlic jus anchors the menu. Mel's crab rice, named for his mother, is the dish people talk about afterwards, and the uni béarnaise is not shy.

Went here for our 35th wedding anniversary. We dined on July 6, 2026...our actual wedding day was July 6, 1991. It was a fantastic dining experience. We overindulged but we got the full tasting experience: seared scallops, snapper crudo, dry aged sirloin, adobo roasted cauliflower, Dorothy's greens, crispy sweet potatoes, confit carrots. EVERYTHING was delish‼️

The service is mixed. Waiter spent short time introducing self and asking for drinks. Came back took order and then you don't see him again until you ask for bill and runner gets him. The other wait staff was excellent water always full. Runner explains dishes well. Place was quiet but not busy. Open kitchen but most tables face away from kitchen. First course was steak tartar with his spin. Very pretty dish but flavor was not classic and overall a little disappointing except for the excellent bread that accompanies it, I would not repeat. The main was salmon a little over dine and dry on one side but delicious. Sides also great. I had the cuttlefish tortellini again a great dish with fresh pasta and a wonderful lobster sauce with chunks of lobster. The side of carrots were great perfectly cooked and flavorful. The dessert strawberry breton was okay. It is served with lime ice cream that did not add to dessert. I would not recommend. It was okay. Would repeat all. The wine list was small and reasonable. Overall I except better setvice from waiter who was very detached and improved appetizers and desserts

Is Marcus DC a secret? Why was this restaurant not packed? GO! Imagine 5pm on a Saturday looking for a last minute evening Reservation during the summer in DC. All the hot spots are booked. But ☝🏾 Marcus DC. They have every time available. 🤔. Suspect in my mind. But let’s check it out! Glad I did! The restaurant was maybe 25% full for an 8pm reservation. Beautiful interior with great service. And the food certainly delivered. Blue cornbread: 5/5. Not overly sweet, perfectly dry yet moist. The Yassa butter 🤤!!!! Mel’s Crab Rice: 10/10 hear me out. I can’t pinpoint the perfect balance of flavors in this dish but it is immaculate! Savory. Tangy. Idk. Good! Crispy Sweet Potatoes: 10/10 perfect crisp outside and soft middle. Crème fraiche perfect topping. Dorothy’s Collards: 4/5 these are good but I figured if I gave another perfect rating you wouldn’t believe it. Not to die for, but definitely good! Now all the reviews I read, loved the Sweet Potato Sticky Toffee Cake. But they no longer have it 😭. Please respond to my review when that item comes back so I can try it. None of the other desserts stood out to me!

Incredible food, outstanding flavors and options, exceptional service. My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. Brendan, and Dejana, spoiled us with kindness and attentiveness. I'd return just to chat it up with them again. We ate and shared several dishes, tapas style. Appetizer & Side: - Corn bread. It was delicious and I would definitely order another plate or a plate to go. I couldn't taste much of the berbere seasoning in the butter but it was still a solid piece of cornbread. -Oysters on a half shell. The sauces that accompanied these oysters were delicious with a little kick of heat. Not too bad or overpowering but heads up. - Aged steak tartare. I could eat another plate of this to myself. It was delicious in every way imaginable. Loved the little mushrooms and the umami onion jam. We ate it with and without the well portioned toast slices. You can't go wrong with this. - Collard greens. I could have had a whole bowl of these greens. Listen, get yourself the greens. Spot on and packed with flavor. We saved some of our cornbread to enjoy with the pot liquor of the greens after devouring them. We had to restrain ourselves so as not to wolf them down. Main: - Scallops. Perfect crust, yummy plantain mole and a perfect kick of heat. I enjoyed trying the elements of this dish individually and as a mix. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish. - Cuttlefish Tortelloni- Yes, yes and yes! With enthusiasm and a tambourine! The star of the night, neck neck with the tare tare but I would order this every time. Do yourself a favor and save any bread to help soak up the delicious broth after you indulge in this scrumptious dish! I could have eaten this all by myself. Dessert: The Praline Cake with a presentation was such a fun surprise. I loved that the pastry chef came to our table to demonstrate and explain the dish. Lovely touch to this delicious dessert.

Absolutely superb meal here from start to finish. Everything we had was excellent, creatively made and equally creatively presented. Cocktails were excellent too, and service, like the food, was just the right temperature. Would return in a heartbeat.
