Babka

Homemade babka buns your baba would sign off on
The name is a pun in two languages: the swirled East European sweet bread, and the grandmother who'd approve of it. That should tell you everything about the buns here, all homemade, paired with specialty coffee that doesn't feel like an afterthought.
Out back, a garden turns a narrow Veslets side street into a courtyard. The crowd skews toward matcha-and-tarot afternoons, and the city's listicles already caught on.

Lovely place in the center of the city with with welcoming staff and owners. The babka buns are crazy delicious and they even serve high quality specialty coffee.

A place in the centre of Sofia, but away from the crowd, where you can can have amazing coffee and buns, while enjoying sweet convos with the owners. 12/10 - totally recommend!

The staff is friendly and very skilled. The coffee is amazing. It has come to my attention that they rotate coffees from different regions every month. The baked goods are also amazing I really like that they have seasonal ones as the one in the photo. The matcha is also good maybe the best I have tried in Sofia. Also they are dog friendly.

A really nice place if you’re looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a coffee and a pastry. In this case, it will most likely be a babka, almost all of their baked goods are babkas (as the name of the place suggests). Usually there are 3–4 sweet babka options and 2 savory ones, and honestly, both the sweet and the savory versions are delicious. My recommendation: go earlier in the day. That’s when the babkas are still warm and noticeably tastier than when they cool down. Also, the selection is much better in the morning, because by the afternoon half of the pastries are often already sold out. The coffee is good, and the matcha is great too, definitely recommended. The place has a nice design, it’s calm, and it’s perfect for working on a laptop since there are convenient power outlets. It’s also a great spot for a casual coffee with friends. During the summer months, the café also has a lovely garden area, so you have the option to enjoy your coffee outdoors. However, the garden is not open during winter. The service from the girl working there is very good, but the service from the man isn’t quite as friendly (not rude — just… meh).

A cozy place with tasty pastries and a very good strawberry matcha. The service was very friendly and the location is also quite good - close to Serdika metro station.
