Hilton's micro-room hotel brand debuts in Asia on Jervois Street

Motto is Hilton's take on the hostel-hotel hybrid: tight, smart rooms, shared lounges, and a location you'd pick on your own. This is the first Motto anywhere in Asia Pacific, 274 rooms packed into a slim tower on Jervois Street in Sheung Wan, between the dried-seafood shops and the SoHo bar crawl.

Local developer Yau Lee Group built it on efficiency: modular construction, energy-saving systems throughout. The payoff is one of the cheaper new beds on Hong Kong Island that isn't a windowless guesthouse, and the ground floor cafe leans on the neighbourhood's coffee habit instead of a lobby buffet.

Good to know

  • Rooms are compact by design; if you need more space, Motto lets you book connecting rooms as one unit.
  • Sheung Wan MTR is around the corner, and the antique shops of Upper Lascar Row and the SoHo bars are both walkable.

I am writing this review to praise Natasha Chui and Roxanne team for their outstanding service during our stay. Upon arrival, the front desk team kindly allowed us an early check-in to let my tired daughter rest, showing great empathy and flexibility. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and generously sized by Hong Kong standards. The service throughout our stay was consistently friendly, warm, and attentive. Every interaction left us feeling truly cared for. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

It is Hilton so you're going to have a clean room and a clean bed. But it's Hong Kong which means space is very precious. Your room will be small, but very clean and very efficient. You should expect this going in. Because we are diamond members we were given free breakfast. Otherwise do not expect a free breakfast. The location is good, the staff is polite, the room was clean, and the bed was clean. Is it the Ritz-Carlton, no, but then again you're not paying Ritz-Carlton prices.

I had a generally pleasant stay at Motto Hong Kong. The room was nice and well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was enjoyable. However, I wasn’t aware that I had been assigned a room designed for guests with disabilities. While I understand the importance of accessibility, the bathroom setup—particularly the shower—was not very comfortable for me to use. Overall, it was a decent stay, but I would recommend confirming room preferences in advance to ensure a more comfortable experience.

Exceptional service from Baron who was very very helpful during our honeymoon stay! He even made sure that we dont get wet when it was raining outside. Thank you so much for your kindness. Apart from the service the hotel location is super especially coming from the airport. One downside would be the lack of noise control between the rooms but i understand thats the case in HK. Overall clean and comfortable room.

For HK standards, the room size is generous. Check-in is courteous, fast, and efficient. Location is awesome because it is only a few minutes walk to Sheung Wan MTR station and there are numerous restaurants down the street. Breakfast at top floor is nice. My biggest suggestions for improvement are the bathroom. The bathroom door is too heavy. There should be some ledges in the shower to put stuff, and more hooks to hang towels.
