Yakitori from a farm that skips the middleman

TORI+ belongs to YuanYu Farm, a Taiwanese poultry farm, so the skewers here go places most yakitori bars can't. Rare cuts show up on the menu because the kitchen sits at the start of the supply chain, not the end. One chicken, they say, yields thirty different dishes.

The special parts sell out fast, so reserve online and claim them when you book. The room is warm wood with a Muji-like calm that undersells how serious the grilling gets, a few minutes from Ruifeng Night Market near the Kaohsiung Arena. Expect around NT$7,500 for a table of four with drinks.

The environment was clean. It's a rare find at a yakitori restaurant, with many delicious cuts: tuna, chicken, oysters, etc. However, about 1/3 of the food was lukewarm, 1/3 was warm, and only 1/3 was hot. It's rare to find skewers that are so lukewarm. Then, one or two dishes were listed on the menu as medium-rare and not to be reheated, but the wasabi chicken I ordered was surprisingly undercooked (less than 50%). 🤨 The restaurant also advertised using free-range chicken, which seemed impressive and should raise no food safety concerns… but I still had diarrhea the next day, with unformed stools that made me want to scream. I looked it up and found that Taiwan doesn't have raw chicken grade… maybe my stomach is just weak (I didn't eat anything else suspicious that day), but you can decide for yourself.

The food came out quickly, and the service was excellent with attentive explanations. The chicken lantern dish is quite unique; you should try it if you go. The chicken wings and bones are specially prepared, so you don't have to worry about gnawing on bones. The potato salad is highly recommended; it even includes chicken cartilage, so give it a try!

The ingredients are fresh, and the grilling skills are superb! The chicken leg and scallion skewers are crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside! The chicken back skin is also crispy and tender! The environment is clean and the atmosphere is great, perfect for a drink! 👍

This is a really high-quality yakitori restaurant; the cooking time and temperature are perfectly controlled! The prices are shown in the photos for reference. The chicken is from their own "Yuan Yu Ranch Surfing Chicken," so the quality is guaranteed. I also recommend the chicken soup; it's delicious. I'd definitely like to come back!

The grilled items, hot pot, and grilled rice balls were all excellent, and I highly recommend the chicken skin (the best chicken skin I've ever had). The food came out quickly, and the service team was very friendly; it felt like eating at a friend's house (my first time here). Thank you to everyone at the restaurant for singing "Happy Birthday" together—a wonderful evening!
