Hermosillo-style ribeye, grilled over mesquite on a Hollywood curb

Asadero is a curbside taquería on the corner of Melrose and Vine, run by a chef who left corporate kitchens to cook asada full time. The bio reads taquería de mesquite tradicional, estilo Hermosillo, Sonora and CDMX, and the setup backs it up: prime cuts grilled over wood in the open air.

Ribeye is the order. It comes off the grill onto handmade Sonoran flour or corn tortillas with traditional salsas, alongside arrachera, chuleta and al pastor. The Infatuation called it LA's most exciting new taco stand.

Good to know

  • Open Thursday to Sunday evenings only, it's a kerbside grill, not a restaurant.

Bomb taco spot. Got the al pastor, flank steak, and ribeye and liked them best to last in that order. Super flavorful and the salsas are so yummy. We got there at 5:40pm on a Thursday and after waiting in the line, had our order in by 6pm. If you order the thinly sliced ribeye, you go to the guy at the grill on the other end and give him your little red ticket. Then you wait for your name to be called for the al pastor and flank steak. Obviously there are other things you can get but those were my options for those particular tacos. The flank steak on the menu says you can get them cooked from blue to well done. I would’ve like blue but they were only doing medium well when I went. Still good though. The homemade tortillas are so good and I like the Wagyu tallow flour ones more. Also if you order an agua fresca (they come in those tall pho broth containers!), ask for it from the person cashier standing by the cooler. Totally see why this place has a line but it moves quick and you get your order quickly! The people are also nice and they were playing a range of music from like hip-hop to Latino to alternative (Fort Minor and Yellowcard!).

This place is absolutely excellent!!! Most other mexican food truck/stall and most mex restaurants ive been to in la, and especially around this area specifically, prepare their chicken the same gross way- cubed peices of lean solution-injected chicken breast cooked in a pan with basically no seasoning, and it's so gross. Even the other taco stall on the same block does chicken this way and it's so bad.. This place uses super high quality meat and grills everything right there over mesquite, and it that plus whatever else theyre doing makes such a massive difference. We got chicken quesadilla and tacos. Seriously the best Mexican and chicken we've had in 3 years in la. We went twice in a row lol. Also, the salsa Macha is soooooooo perfect I was so happy to see that they even had it. That and their tomatillo salsa were perfection. Also fyi, they are not open Thursday like Google says. Just Friday through Sunday. They told me their social media posts about their hours accurately.

The BEST tacos in LA. This guy puts LOVE into all of his food and treats each taco as a work of art. The tortillas are handmade and he uses quality meat. We are so lucky to live nearby and frequent this place often. You can’t go wrong with anything, but our favorites are the ribeye, asada, and al pastor.

HOLY SMOKES! we’ve been chasing these guys down for weeks (our schedule doesn’t align with their operating times) and today the day has come! I literally won’t go anywhere else after discovering their RIB EYE tacos!! are you freaking kidding me?! whoever is the boss man here, please give yourself a round of applause. Their offerings of sides and sauces are INCREDIBLE. Service with the men today were so thoughtful!! THEY ARE FIRE!!!!

Fresh blue corn tortillas and premium meat choices like ribeye and flank steak. The Al Pastor is a must.
