A Huế family canteen in the old apartment quarters

Off Nguyen Van Troi, in the old apartment quarters, Ngự Bình has fed the same families Huế home cooking for generations. Bún bò Huế is the anchor, with bánh bèo, the small steamed rice cakes, and nem nướng alongside.

This is a canteen, not a restaurant. Plastic chairs, no reservations, you walk in and sit down. MICHELIN listed it in 2026, which hasn't changed a thing about how it runs.

Little restaurant making a lot of speciallties from Huế : food is of satisfactory quality but rather expensive considering the standard place and service.

This restaurant has been our go-to for many decades. The quality and atmosphere have remained the same all those years. Definitely recommend their bánh khoái, bánh bèo and bún bò. You won't be disappointed.

This was a very good bun bo hue restaurant in Saigon they specialize in all the different type of meals from hue and we honestly ordered everything on the menu because my aunt who is Vietnamese ordered for us and we were so very full after eating everything. It was a good meal and I really did banh beo and the bun bo hue and all the other things we ate that day is not as nice as the other restaurants we went to, but I don’t think that this restaurant is known for being pretty more that it has good food and many more restaurants in Vietnam are like that too

Growing up in Vietnam, this place is a hidden gem for my family and I. Their food is beyond delicious, I can eat it every single day. It’s always very crowded when I visit, I don’t know why the rating is this low… but their food is delicious and authentic. I have a little selfish fear - that this lovely place full of childhood memories will become too popular and it will be harder for me to get a table in the future. But at the same time, I genuinely hope that they keep thriving. ❤️

The nam nueng had fresh cucumbers and vegetables, the rice paper was not thick and was nice and crunchy. We also loved their dried shrimp rolls, it feels like you are in dried shrimp roll heaven. The flour of the rolls are wet at the best hydration rate and the shrimp is not that dry at all, this is because the flour wets it up. It is perfect for young children to eat. We recommend the nam nueng, dried shrimp rolls, and the rice flour with dried shrimp and vegetables on.
