The Bull Moose

Dry-aged beef upstairs from Beaumont's
The Bull Moose sits on the second floor above Beaumont's on North Halsted, opened in July 2026 by the same team a couple of months after the tavern below it. Where Beaumont's is a bar with a kitchen, this is a steakhouse.
The format is deliberately narrow: large dry-aged cuts, mostly portioned for two, rather than a long menu of individual steaks. Getting there means walking through Beaumont's first. That's part of the point.

All around excellent and (very) Chicago experience. The menu had all the hits, the cocktails were classics, the service was professional, the dishes were perfectly timed, and the execution from the kitchen was phenomenal. It’s a great steakhouse.

I recently visited this marvelous restaurant for the second time, and once again, I was blown away. The food was incredible, the ambiance was wonderful, and every member of the staff was genuinely welcoming and willing to help. Everything was cooked to perfection. The onion soup is, without a doubt, my favorite in the world, and the burger is absolutely outstanding as well. The steaks, lasagna, and all of the sides are simply to die for. Every dish was full of flavor and clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail. A very special shout-out to the chef, Mr. Johnny Besch. His years of experience and expertise are reflected in every single dish that comes out of the kitchen. And another special shout-out to our server, Mitch, who provided excellent service and made our experience even more enjoyable. This is truly a remarkable restaurant, and I can't wait to come back for a third visit!

If you want a fantastic steak dinner without breaking the bank, The Bull Moose is the spot. The food, from appetizers down to the mains, was really solid. The steaks come with your choice of soup or salad and robuchon potatoes. Our porterhouse was excellent: tender, cooked exactly to our requested doneness, and smoky with a nice crust from the charcoal grill. The dry-aging gave it a subtle funk that I really enjoyed. However, I would've liked a little more salt. The ambiance was upscale and polished yet still intimate and cozy.

Incredible experience here. Service is top notch and food was 10/10. Perfect for a date night. Even the music was great and paired so well with the vibe of the restaurant. Highly recommend
