The Austin sushi room lands on M Street
Uchi came from Austin to M Street in May 2026. The nine-course tasting for two at $120 is happy hour only, which is the loophole worth planning an early evening around.
À la carte the menu runs to lobster in coconut curry and crispy rice with salmon, alongside a long sashimi and nigiri list.

Had a fantastic experience at Uchi DC. The restaurant is beautiful and has a great ambiance that made the whole evening feel special. Our server, Rreze, was outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us excellent recommendations that helped us make the most of the menu. We chose the 7-course experience, and every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. It was also very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the overall experience. Great service, amazing food, and a wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

We had such a wonderful time at Uchi DC! Our server, Katlyn, was attentive and personable throughout the meal. We opted for the chef’s tasting ($200/person), and every single dish was spot on—truly nothing to complain about. The interior is sleek, modern, and chic, adding to the whole experience. They also offer a happy hour signature tasting menu that I’m definitely eager to try next time. Can’t wait to return!

Probably the best Japanese restaurant in DC. I had dinner at Nobu just two days before coming here, so comparing the dishes was inevitable. Uchi honestly cleared it. Every dish had more depth of flavor and felt more memorable. The hama chili, soft shell crab maki, ebi tempura, rock shrimp karaage, and the kinoko nabe with wagyu were all outstanding. Not a single miss. The only thing that didn’t quite hit the mark for me was the edamame; it was a bit too al dente for my taste, but that’s purely personal preference. The fried milk dessert is a must. It’s creative and ridiculously good. I also appreciated that the servers took the time to explain each dish as it arrived. It’s a small touch that really adds to the experience. The only downside is that both times I’ve visited, despite having a reservation, we still had to wait about 10–15 mins to be seated. Not a big deal, but if you have reservations, you kind of expect to be seated on time or within a few mins.

We had such an amazing experience at Uchi. First of all the atmosphere is unbeatable and unique. Our server, Scott, was extremely kind and gave us great recommendations, he made us feel super comfortable. It was my birthday and he even learned happy birthday in Portuguese (we’re Brazilian). The food was just perfect, so happy we went to this place. Definitely coming back and bringing friends.

We had an amazing dinner at Uchi DC. The food was delicious from start to finish, and every dish felt really intentional and well balanced. It was creative without feeling intimidating, which I really appreciated. Our server Kaelyn was wonderful. She was knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely kind. She helped guide us through the menu and made great recommendations based on what we were looking for. Her service was attentive but still very natural, which can be hard to find. The hospitality really stood out just as much as the food. Kaelyn made the whole night feel easy and special, and we left talking about how good the experience was. Definitely recommend Uchi DC, and we would absolutely come back.
