Hemingway Bar
Prague Opened Opening date unknown
Rum, absinthe and no shortcuts, on a side street off the river
Hemingway Bar sits in a cellar-like room on Karoliny Světlé, a couple of minutes from the Charles Bridge but far enough off it that the crowd is mostly local. The stock is the point: more than two hundred rums, and the widest absinthe selection in the country, including a limited edition distilled for the bar by Martin Žufánek.
Drinks are built to order and the bartenders will happily go off-menu if you tell them what you like. The room seats fewer than forty, there is a strict no-standing policy, and the door staff turn people away when it is full rather than pack it.
